Watch Venus Williams vs Serena Williams Live Streaming

Venus and Serena Williams, who will contest the Wimbledon singles final for a fourth time in Saturday, reached the final of the women's doubles for a second successive year on Friday.

The three-time defending champions defeated top seeds Cara Black of Zimbabwe and America's Liezel Hueber 6-1, 6-2.

They will face Australian pair Samantha Stosur and Rennae Stubbs, the third seeds, who defeated Spain's Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual 6-7 (3/7), 6-4, 6-2, in Sunday's final.

Venus denied that the tournament was becoming too easy for them.

"Serena had a very tough competitor yesterday (a three-set semi-final win over Elena Dementieva where she saved a match point). I've had to stay on my A game to defeat each competitor," said the five-time singles champion.

Watch Andy Roddick v Andy Murray Live Streaming

Team Murray were out in force on Thursday on the Wimbledon practice courts as the world number three limbered up for Friday's semi-final against American Andy Roddick with the customary game of tennis-football.

A battery of cameras inside and outside the courts tracked every move of the man seeking to become the first British men's champion since Fred Perry won his last title in 1936.

When the Briton's fitness and recovery abilities came into question after a draining five-set victory over Richard Gasquet at Wimbledon last year was followed by a quarter-final rout to Rafa Nadal, Murray decided things had to change.

He honed his physique during the off-season in Miami with gym and track sessions.

The Miami conditioning sessions, dubbed the Winter Olympics, and including 100, 200 and 400 metres sprints, bench presses and the high jump, have turned Murray into the complete athlete.

Watch Tommy Haas v Roger Federer Live Streaming

Federer should still have enough to beat him if he is at the top of his game, but it will be intriguing and there will not be much between them.

Anyone who follows tennis will recognise what an astonishing comeback the German has made after recovering from surgery twice; it has been an incredible effort.

The first time he was out for 15 months, and many players do not return after that kind of lay off, at any level, let alone at the top of the sport.

His progress has been astonishing. He will be in the top 20 on Monday, and there is every chance that if he continues to play the way he is, he will be in the world's top 10 by the end of the year.

Djokovic performed very strangely in his defeat to Haas, and for long periods it was close, but then the Serb would then throw in a very ugly game

Roger Federer will banish thoughts of creating tennis history as he seeks to regain his Wimbledon title.

Federer's victory in the French Open earlier this month saw him become only the sixth man to complete a career Grand Slam.

And a first triumph at Roland Garros also meant the Swiss star equalled Pete Sampras' record of 14 major titles.

The 27-year-old now has the chance to break that record at the All England Club, where he has already won five titles and was only denied a sixth in succession by Rafael Nadal in last year's epic final.

With Nadal absent this year through injury, Federer is the hot favourite to lift the trophy again come July 5, but the world number two is trying to keep thoughts of a record 15th grand slam at the back of his mind.

The former world number one, who dropped to 102nd in the world rankings being out of action for nine months because of a shoulder injury, needed a set to find her range on Court One before cracking winners past the world number 64.

Yakimova called on the tournament's trainer at change of sides at 4-1 in the second set to have her lower back massaged and she never seemed to recover.

Sharapova, who returned to singles play last week at the Warsaw Open where she reached the last eight, will next face 11th-seeded compatriot Nadia Petrova.

Venus Williams kept a cool head in scorching conditions to reach the second round with a 6-1 4-6 6-2 win over fellow American Bethanie Mattek-Sands.

The third seed appeared to be in a hurry to get back into the cooler confines of the locker room when she romped through the first set in just 34 minutes.

But Mattek-Sands delayed Williams on court for almost two hours before the 28-year-old sealed victory with a thumping forehand winner.

Williams, who owns seven grand slam trophies but has never triumphed at Roland Garros, will next face Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic, who downed Germany's Sabine Lisicki 6-1 2-6 6-1.

The third-seeded Scot will begin his campaign on the Suzanne Lenglen court on Sunday against Juan Ignacio Chela and knows that he will have to be at his best if he is to progress.

"I want to reach the second week and I'll try to do that. That's a good starting point for me," Murray told the Daily Record.

"I feel if I play well I've got a very good chance of doing well. I want to play well. If I play well but lose in the second round, it's not as though I'll be happy but it won't be a failure providing I have played great tennis.

"On grass and hard courts I know I have to play well if I want to go far into the tournament but I still know that I can come through matches when I'm not necessarily playing my best.

"But on clay I feel like I have to play good tennis from the start and play some of my best to win all the matches. So I have to go into the tournament switched on."

Murray has teamed up with two-times French Open finalist Alex Corretja for the duration of the clay-court season and believes the move has been important in increasing his confidence.

Australian Open 2009 finals Live Streaming

Nadal, who sobbed as he earned three match points after five hours and 14 minutes - an Australian Open record - against his fellow Spaniard was facing a race against time to recover for Sunday's final.

"It's going to be a little bit tough on Sunday. Roger had Friday off and only three sets in his semi-final so now, for sure, he's the favourite," said Nadal.

"But I'll try my best."

After the brutal but high-quality marathon, Verdasco netted the final point at 1:07 am local time on Saturday and Nadal was still talking to the media at 3:00 am.

He said he would have a massage, eat and try to sleep as long as possible on Saturday before a light practice session in the evening. The final is scheduled for 7:30 pm (08.30 British time) on Sunday.

Nadal, 22, is unlikely to be fully recovered after being stretched to the limit by his fellow left-hander, who bounced back from an apparent injury problem to force a gripping final set.

But Federer rejected suggestions Nadal would not be at his best, pointing out he had breezed through his earlier five matches in straight sets.

"You could think that way, but I don't think it's really going to affect Rafa that much. He's had very easy matches going into this semi-final," he said.

Nadal compared the Verdasco clash to last year's classic Wimbledon final with Federer, which was also a record for that tournament at four hours and 48 minutes.

Australian Open : Federer survives huge scare

World number two Roger Federer fought back from two sets down to snatch a dramatic 4-6 6-7 6-4 6-4 6-2 victory against Tomas Berdych, retaining his hopes of winning a 14th Grand Slam title at the Australian Open.

Federer, who is seeking to equal Pete Sampras's record for Grand Slam titles, appeared listless from the beginning of his fourth round match with the Czech, before he found his form in the middle of the third set and never looked back.

The Swiss second seed had numerous opportunities to seal decisive games in each of the opening sets but the 20th-seeded Berdych managed to find a booming serve, blistering return or a winner to halt Federer's momentum.

However, after Berdych missed a smash while 3-4 down in the third, Federer seized the initiative and drastically raised his game to take the match in three hours, 29 minutes, setting up a quarter-final with Juan Martin Del Potro.

The Argentine put a slow start behind him to advance 5-7 6-4 6-4 6-2 at the expense of Croatia's Marin Cilic.

At 20, Del Potro becomes the youngest quarter-finalist since Richard Krajicek in 1992.

The Argentine retired in round two on his both previous visits here but has now reached two consecutive Grand Slam quarter-finals after last year's US Open.

American Andy Roddick also booked his place in the quarter-finals, beating Tommy Robredo 7-5 6-1 6-3 and extending his perfect record against the Spaniard to 10 matches.

The Frenchwoman capitalised on the Serbian's poor service game and blasted winners at every opportunity before she ended the world number one's misery 6-1 6-4 in just 82 minutes.

The unconventional Bartoli, who despite being right handed plays two handed off both sides, had not advanced beyond the Australian Open second round in seven previous attempts.

The 16th seed set up a quarter-final against a Russian, either Nadia Petrova or Vera Zvonareva.

Bartoli, blasting winners from both sides off the baseline, jumped out to a 4-0 first set lead and, while Jankovic held three break points in the fifth game, the Frenchwoman held her nerve to take a 5-0 lead.

She held two set points in the sixth game but Jankovic was finally able to hold her serve.

The 16th seed, however, was not to be denied the first set, which she clinched with a delicate drop push that left the scrambling Jankovic wafting at thin air.

Jankovic won just 13 points on her own serve in the first set.

Losing the set seemed to wake Jankovic up although neither player was too successful with their serve in the second set, each breaking the other twice in the first eight games.

Australian Open Tennis Championships 2009 Live

Australian Open Tennis Championships 2009:

If you have been waiting for this event, the 2009 Australian Open Tennis Tournament is right around the corner. From January 19th to February 1st, the matches will be taking place in Melbourne, Australia. All the top ranked tennis players in the world will be putting their talents to the test in what promises to be the most exciting Grand Slam event in history.

Djokovic recognises that coming into a Grand Slam as the title-holder is entirely different than being a brash contender.

“This is a first-time experience,” he said. “Try to accept it as a positive challenge. Obviously if I want to be on the top I have to, well, accept the pressure of the defending champion. All the things have to come together. It’s the start of the season and (people are) still adjusting on some things and haven’t played a match in a while. So everybody starts a bit slowly. Hopefully, it’s going to come back.”

Juan Martin Del Potro is thought to be one of the leading contenders in this year’s Grand Slam event. Having an outstanding season, he is looking forward to his first Grand Slam win this year. If his game stays on the mark and he remains injury free, this player will create some excitement in the 2009 Australian Open.

The big news in the event is coming from the disappointing withdrawal of Maria Sharapova from the ladies event. This makes it the first time that the Grand Slam will be starting the event without a defending champion. The tennis player said she regrets to make the announcement, but promises her fans that she will be back next year to try and regain the title. Maria Sharapova just did not feel as though she was ready for what it takes to win a Grand Slam tournament.

Jelena Jankovic recently withdrew from the Hong Kong Open but is currently third favorite among bookmakers for the women’s event. The illness that forced Jankovic out of the Hong Kong Open does not appear to be affecting her competing in the Australian Open. However, she has expressed some concern over her training for the event.

If you are a fan of world tennis, then the 2009 Australian Open Tennis Tournament is not one that you will want to miss. There promises to be many exciting and closely contested matches between all the players in both the men and women’s sections.

The Australian Open started in 1905 in Kooyong where it was played on grass courts. During those early years it was rather difficult for players to travel to Australia and the contests eventually faded out of the limelight. In 1988, the Australian Open Tennis Tournament began to make a comeback as players were able to get to the event by air.

The matches were eventually moved to Melbourne Park where they are played to this day. In Melbourne the more pressing problem for the players during the tournament are the hot summer days, when the temperatures can reach the upper nineties.

Since 2007, the event has taken aboard new technology which allows players to contend calls made by linesmen and this technology is known as the Hawk eye confirmation technology. This also allows spectators to see instant replays of the decisions on a special large screen that has been installed in the arena.
